Coach Introduction – Emily Rutherford
What do you do for work daily?
For the past 6 years I’ve been a Digital Health Coach at Omada Health…don’t worry, most people don’t know what that means. On a daily basis, I support and help people from all different backgrounds and locations, who are working to change their health. Often those individuals are working to slow the progression, or to prevent pre-diabetes. Though some are there to just get healthier in general. I always strive to be their wellness authority and a supportive mentor, while also giving them those extra pushes. I do that through helping them to develop individualized food and lifestyle changes that meet their unique needs and health goals.
Where have you coached before or who have you coached before?
Outside of Health Coaching, this is my first time coaching CrossFit. I also have a long history of coaching field hockey on the High School and College level.
Favorite CrossFit workout?
Not surprising if you know me, anything with running! I actually really enjoy “Murph”, partially for the running, partially because I always see a good amount of improvement in my skills and time. Also because it usually has a big turnout at the gym and I love having the opportunity to see everyone and sweat side by side.
Least favorite CrossFit workout?
Ugh, JT. It always leaves my arms and soul a little bit dead.
One goal you are currently working on?
Mobility and engaging my glutes are two big ones for me. After running for so many years, it has taken a lot of effort to loosen up and be able to squat with an upright chest. It continues to be a work in progress….
What is one thing people at OC probably don’t know about you?
I love to travel! I’m up to 14 countries and counting, and just got engaged while exploring the Czech Republic.
