Concept 2 holiday challenge is great training for Oregon CrossFit’s New Years Marathon.
Every year for the past 20 years, Concept 2(the company that makes the Ski Ergs and Row Ergs and C2 Bike) issues a holiday challenge. For the past couple of years at OC, there have been members participating. This year to encourage those who might fall off the exercise bandwagon during the holidays, sign up for the challenge and complete it.
How to schedule the work?
Concept 2 has a downloadable calendar to schedule your work or you can simply add a 1k or 2k daily as a warm up or cool down to get your necessary meters. There is a 100k challenge and a 200k challenge. For those who won’t click the links and read the information above here is the breakdown:
Date to start:
Row, ski and/or ride 100,000 meters or 200,000 meters from November 28 to 11:59 p.m. December 24. 26 days to get the necessary work in.
Who does this help?
You first and foremost. Secondly, those around you. People struggle during this time of year being consistent and training. This challenge provides you small daily goals to hit and also encourages those around you to stay consistent. Also C2 will donate to a charity of your choice based on your meters.

Sign up for the Concept 2 Challenge. Complete the meters and use it as a springboard for our New Year’s Eve Marathon row.
New Years Marathon
You might think you will be tired of rowing, by the time the marathon comes around. However, you will a little break and then we have the marathon. On New Years Eve we get together at 9:30am and complete as a team a Marathon Row/Bike/Ski. If you have Facebook, the details are there. For those who don’t: 9:30am – row/ski/TruForm run/ or C2 bike a marathon in Teams of 4+. There will be a sign-up sheet at the Front Desk to get signed up.
